Ammehjelpen

The Breastfeeding Support Association

Why do we donate 5% of our profits to Ammehjelpen (the Norwegian Breastfeeding Association)?

Becoming a parent for the first time is an overwhelming experience. It's magical, chaotic, beautiful, and often quite demanding. Amidst all the new and unfamiliar, you hold a tiny human in your arms and try to do everything right. For us, perhaps the biggest surprise was how challenging it could actually be to get breastfeeding to work. What is often referred to as the most natural thing in the world felt anything but easy.

During that vulnerable phase, Ammehjelpen was one of the things that saved us.

Through their website, we found answers to questions we didn't even know we had. We received support, reassurance, and up-to-date knowledge, and most importantly, we felt seen and understood. There was never any finger-pointing, just warm, professionally solid guidance, shared by volunteer women who had been where we were. It meant more than we could express at the time, but now we would like to try.

That's why we have decided to donate 5% of Minibello's profits to Ammehjelpen, as a small thank you for the big difference they have made for us, and for all other new parents who need support.

A little information about Ammehjelpen

Ammehjelpen is a voluntary organization, run by approximately 200 volunteer breastfeeding counselors and only two permanent employees. They offer free breastfeeding guidance via phone, email, and social media, and they are behind Norway's largest online source of information about breastfeeding. They hold courses for both mothers and healthcare professionals, organize breastfeeding cafés, and advocate for better frameworks and rights for everyone who breastfeeds. Regardless of whether you exclusively breastfeed, partially breastfeed, or wish to end breastfeeding on your own terms.

Perhaps the most touching thing is that everyone who becomes a breastfeeding counselor has been through the same experience themselves: they know what it's like. And they do this voluntarily, in their free time, because they are passionate about helping other mothers. There's hardly anything finer! However, this means they are entirely dependent on financial support from the public.

Minibello is still a small company, but we have a big heart. We want to contribute to something bigger than ourselves and support those who supported us when we needed it most. Therefore, we gladly donate 5% of our profits to Ammehjelpen, and hope it can help even more people get the help they deserve.

Thank you, Ammehjelpen. For the knowledge, for the warmth, and for existing.

With love,
Maren and Kristine
Founders of Minibello 💛
